Overall the collection is in good physical condition. Series 1 consists of 1.25 cubic ft. (in 3 boxes), Acc#3071, Boulton Collection. The collection consists of numbered glass-plate negatives varying in size. Topics include views of Alpena, buildings, logs, rivers, ships, homes, fire damage, an elephant, animals, Partridge Point, and Thunder Bay. Series 2 consists of .75 cubic ft. (in 2 boxes), Acc#3074, Voegel Fish Hatchery/Boulton Collection. This collection consists of 277 film negatives, varying in size, all undated, 6 black and white photographs, undated, and 6 postcards, 1925 and undated. Topics include home interiors, cemeteries, street, farm, and outdoor scenes, fishery operations, woods, fences, lumber, vehicles, landscapes, equipment, people, vehicles, boats, animals, cemeteries, the Mississippi River, and tourist sites in Ark., Okla., Utah, W. Va., Tex., and Hot Springs, Ark. Series 3 consists of 1.25 cubic ft. (in 4 boxes) of glass-plate negatives, 8 film negatives, and notes. The negatives vary in size, 1860s-1889. Topics include views of Alpena including streets, buildings, and homes, Camp Alger, Thunder Bay Island, Island Lake, Oxbow, logs, boats, life saving boat, Rapid City (Antrim County), dam, bridge, river, railroad, fairgrounds, baseball, Mackinac Island,and Professor Crocker's Educated Horses. Series 4 consists of .5 cubic ft. (in 1 box), Acc#3073, Crowe Glass Negatives. The collection consists of 92 numbered glass-plate negatives, undated, circa 1913-1916, most of which measure 5x7 inches. Topics include views of Alpena, Crescent Island, Grand Lake, Presque Isle Bay, Misery Bay, Whitefish Point, Hubbard Lake, Fort Mackinac, Thunder Bay Island, Sulpher Island, and Partridge Point, streets, buildings, a circus, parade, elephant, cage, clown, animals, boats, swimming, river, Iroquois Hotel, and homes. Series 5 consists of 1.25 cubic ft. (in 2 boxes), Acc#2643, of 71 Spanish-American War film negatives in homemade glass casings, all undated, each measures approximately 5x4 inches. Topics include views of Washington, D.C., war camp, streets and buildings, camp, officers, soldiers, horses, tents, African-Americans, parade ground, railway, people, animals, etc. Series 6 consists of 1.25 cubic ft. (in 2 boxes) Acc#3072, 104 Sepull Glass Negatives, undated, circa 1892-1906. Each plate measures 4x3 or 5x7 inches. Topics include Alpena, Stubbs Long Lake and Oxbow, streets, buildings, lake, canoe, car, engine house, lighthouse, mill, dock, snow, logs, train, river, dam, animals, homes, fire damage, St. Clair River, Thunder Bay River, Middle Island, Partridge Point Bluffs, Horseshoe Falls, Niagara Falls, Belle Isle, Bear Island, Grass Isle, Barr Isle, people, boats, life saving station, farm, etc.

Trelfa (1886-1929) was a historian from Alpena (Mich.). Several of his and his brother Tom's collections about early Michigan history are in the Clarke Historical Library. Nothing further is known about Lamb. Montreal (Keweenaw County, Mich.) was a copper mining area that later became part of the Clark Mine. Crocker was a resident of Reading (Mich.). He owned and trained his troupe of equines that performed throughout Europe, 1875-1908. The entire troupe died from hoof-and-mouth disease.
